Welcome to the Focus Module

"Childhood Obesity Prevention in Early-Life"

The focus module is further sub-divided into the following five lessons with specific learning aims:

Lesson 1: Early-life multifactorial origins of childhood obesity and prevention potential

Learning aim: After completing Lesson 1, the user will be able to recognize childhood obesity as a major public health problem, its multifactorial early life origins and the potential for prevention during the first 1000 days of life.

Lesson 2: Facilitators and barriers to healthy behaviours for obesity prevention in family setting

Learning aim: After completing Lesson 2, the user will be able to identify the facilitators and barriers to healthy behaviours in family-based settings, with a specific focus on socio-economic inequalities.

Lesson 3: Early-life prediction of childhood obesity

Learning aim: After completing Lesson 3, users will be able to understand the importance of early identification of children at risk of developing obesity and an related unhealthy obesity phenotype. The user will also obtain insight into the development and implementation of clinical prediction tools for childhood obesity and the urgent next steps for researchers and clinicians to improve risk prediction for obesity from early-life onwards.

Lesson 4: Childhood obesity prevention strategies during the first 1000 days of life

Learning aim: After completing Lesson 4, the user will be able to identify childhood obesity prevention strategies during the first 1000 days of life and accompanying limitations.

Lesson 5: Implementation of a childhood obesity prediction tool

Learning aim: After completing Lesson 5, users will be able to understand the opportunities, pitfalls and essential conditions for the implementation of a childhood obesity prediction tool in healthcare.
